Attribute type access rights for module at away database....

Our customer has a partition (at the away database) and is having trouble adding an enumeration to an already existing Type attribute that has numerous enumerations. What are the typical access rights that personnel at the away database have on Types and Attributes?

The partition must have been defined to allow modification of that AttrType. Also, the local away database of course must allow him to do so as well. And he must 'Exclusive Edit' the module.

Usually folks just let Attr Type protections inherit from the Module, so if he can Edit the module he can modify the Type.

When defining the partition it does not allow you to set access rights down to the attribute/type level. It only allows setting access rights to the module and link module level.

The away database user is a Database Administrator. If you look at the attached screenshot of the Access tab for the Type enumeration and his specific username lists RMCD access but notice that the bottom only shows that the administrator only has R access.

So is there a way to allow users at the away database to edit/add/delete enumerations? I guess I can see why DOORS would not allow it since if the away database was to delete or edit one of the enumerations, then that may cause some issues when we merge the partition back into the home database since the enums would no longer match.

Thoughts?

Does anyone else have thoughts on this issue? For some reason when the partition is at the away database the attribute type is marked with read only access even though an admin user shows as having RMCDA access. See the lower portion of the screenshot is the above attachment.

Played with it a little. Well, that looks like a feature sorry.

Perhaps you can make your own attribute type and associated attribute, add them to the Partition, then use them. Tell the home folks to deal with it when its returned.

I was afraid of that. We were trying to refrain from performing a partition exchange each time the away database wants to update the attribute types.

Thanks for the quick response.
